Welcome to Nutmeg Table Company! These Terms and Conditions (“Legal Terms”) are entered into by and between you (“you” or “your”) and Nutmeg Table Company (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located at 1691 Thomaston Avenue, 4th Floor, Waterbury, CT 06704. These Legal Terms govern your access to and use of our website nutmegtablecompany.com, along with any related products, content, and services (the “Services”).
By using our Services or submitting payment through our invoicing system, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms & Conditions in full.
Our Services
All Nutmeg Table Company furniture is made to order. For custom orders, our typical lead time is approximately 12 weeks. Lead time begins from the date of approved shop drawing sign-off, not the date of purchase or deposit. Production will not be scheduled until drawings have been reviewed and formally approved by the client.
Shop drawings will be prepared and issued in the order orders are received. Drawing preparation is subject to our current design queue and may take several weeks following deposit. Clients will be notified when their drawings are ready for review.
Your order is scheduled into our production workflow once shop drawings are approved and a deposit has been received. Once your piece is complete and approved, we’ll coordinate delivery or shipping.
While we do our best to meet estimated timeframes, occasional delays may occur due to material availability, scheduling, or carrier logistics. If that happens, we’ll keep you informed along the way.
Deposits & Payment Schedule
A 50% deposit is required to initiate your order and begin the design process. The remaining balance is due upon receipt of completion photos, before delivery is scheduled. All deposits are processed through our invoicing system via Square. Orders will not enter production until the deposit is received and shop drawings have been formally approved. Deposits are non-refundable once placed.
Shop Drawing Approval
Following receipt of your deposit, shop drawings will be prepared by our design team in queue order. We do not guarantee a specific timeframe for drawing issuance, as preparation time varies depending on the complexity of your piece and our current design workload.
Once shop drawings are issued, clients are asked to review and provide approval in a timely manner. Lead time begins from the date of approved sign-off — delays in approval may result in a shift in your production slot. If drawings remain unreviewed for an extended period, Nutmeg Table Company reserves the right to reschedule your order based on current shop availability.
Rush Fee Policy
We may offer an optional rush fee for clients who need a piece completed ahead of the current lead time.
- Our standard rush fee is $500.
- Rush timelines are quoted on a case-by-case basis and depend on the piece and our production schedule. Like all lead times, rush timelines are calculated from the date of approved shop drawing sign-off, not the date of purchase or deposit.
- If we are unable to meet the agreed-upon expedited timeline, the rush fee will be fully reimbursed.
- All other terms, including delivery scheduling and final client approval, still apply.
Shipping & Delivery
Lead time is dependent on the size and complexity of your piece. Once your item is complete, please allow up to 12 business days for us to coordinate delivery or shipping. We’ll send completion photos and follow up with scheduling details once a carrier is assigned.
Assembly vs. Installation: Nutmeg Table Company provides delivery and assembly services for all pieces; however, we do not perform installations of any kind. This includes wall mounting, anchoring, built-in fitting, or any work requiring modification to your home or existing structure. Installation is outside the scope of our services, and NTC assumes no liability for installation-related work performed by others. If you have questions about what’s included with your delivery, please reach out before scheduling.
We offer the following delivery methods depending on your location and the size of your piece:

Freight (Curbside): Your piece will be flat-packed on a pallet and shipped via a third-party freight carrier. Once it reaches your local terminal, the carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window — these appointments often span several hours.
- Freight delivery is curbside only unless otherwise arranged.
- If you’re unavailable during the scheduled window, rescheduling or storage fees may apply.
- Changes to the delivery address once in transit may result in reconsignment fees.
- UShip (Independent Carrier Network): We partner with a trusted network of independent drivers who offer blanket-wrapped, room-of-choice delivery for many of our pieces. These drivers handle fewer deliveries per route and provide more flexible, hands-on service. Once assigned, they’ll contact you directly to schedule your delivery and provide updates while en route.
- White Glove Delivery: For customers in select regions, we offer white glove delivery through trusted partners, including in-home placement and removal of all packaging or crating materials. Delivery windows and availability vary by location — reach out and we can confirm what’s available in your area
Delivery Day Expectations: Please inspect your piece carefully as soon as it arrives. If you notice any damage, it must be clearly documented on the delivery slip or reported to us within 24 hours (with photos) at care@nutmegtablecompany.com. We cannot guarantee resolution for issues reported after this window or without documentation.
Shipping Quotes & Upcharges
Shipping costs for custom pieces are estimated at the time of order and are subject to change. Final shipping charges are confirmed once the piece is complete and carrier rates are secured. For oversized, heavy, or complex pieces, additional crating, handling, or freight fees may apply. We’ll communicate any changes before your delivery is scheduled.
Delays & Material Shortages
While we do everything we can to meet quoted lead times, Nutmeg Table Company is not liable for delays caused by circumstances outside our control, including but not limited to material shortages, supplier delays, carrier disruptions, or other unforeseen events. If a significant delay affects your order, we’ll reach out as soon as possible with an updated timeline.
Designer & Trade Orders
When an order is placed by a designer, architect, or trade professional on behalf of an end client, the ordering party assumes full responsibility for the accuracy of all specifications, dimensions, and design approvals. Nutmeg Table Company is not liable for pieces built to approved specs that do not meet the end client’s expectations. All approvals — including shop drawing sign-off — must come from the ordering party of record
Intellectual Property
All content — including photos, text, graphics, designs, and trademarks — is owned by or licensed to Nutmeg Table Company and protected by U.S. copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or use our content for commercial purposes without prior written consent.
User Representations
By using our site, you confirm that you’re at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into this agreement. You agree not to use our site in any unlawful or unauthorized way.
Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to: submitting fraudulent orders, scraping or copying product content, gaining unauthorized access to our systems, or attempting to disrupt or harm our Services.
Our Products
Each piece we make is crafted by hand using solid American hardwoods, and no two are exactly alike — that’s part of what makes our furniture special. Natural variations in grain, tone, and texture are expected and embraced. Seasonal expansion, contraction, small knots, hairline cracks, or slight dimensional shifts are all normal characteristics of solid wood and are not considered defects.
Dimensions may vary by ±1/8” from shop drawings due to natural wood variation and the handcrafted manufacturing process.
We do our best to represent wood tones and finishes accurately, but due to natural variation and screen differences, colors may vary in person. If you’re unsure about color, we recommend ordering wood and finish samples before placing your order.
Our team takes great care in building and finishing each item in our Waterbury, CT workshop.
Custom Orders & Design Responsibility
We frequently work with designers and clients who bring us custom specifications. While we’re happy to build to spec, Nutmeg Table Company is not responsible for the functionality, proportions, or usability of third-party designs. We’ll do our best to offer guidance and flag concerns during the build process, but we cannot fully predict how a piece will perform until it’s built.
Once approved and in production, custom orders are final and non-refundable, even if design preferences change after the build begins.
Purchases & Payment
We accept most major credit cards and Google Pay. Payment is due in full at checkout unless otherwise agreed. Sales tax is charged on orders shipping to Connecticut addresses, in accordance with state law.
Return Policy
All sales are final. Each piece is made to order and scheduled into our production workflow upon purchase. While your piece may not begin production immediately, it will be completed within the estimated lead time calculated from your approved shop drawing sign-off.
Once a deposit is placed, your order cannot be canceled or refunded. We do not offer returns or exchanges.
If your item arrives damaged in transit, notify us within 24 hours of delivery and provide photos. For freight or shipper-assisted deliveries, any visible damage must be noted with the driver and documented with photos. We cannot guarantee resolution for damage reported after this window or without documentation.
We do not offer refunds or partial refunds for natural wood movement or small cosmetic variations. These are expected characteristics of solid hardwood furniture and part of what makes each piece unique.
If a client requests to cancel an order prior to delivery, Nutmeg Table Company reserves the right to retain all costs incurred up to that point in production, including materials and labor. Deposits are non-refundable once placed.
User Reviews & Photo Submissions
If you share a review, photo, or feedback with us — via email, website, or social media — you grant Nutmeg Table Company the right to use, modify, and share that content for marketing or promotional purposes, both online and in print. You confirm that you have the legal right to submit the content and allow us to use it. Content may be edited for layout or credited at our discretion.
We reserve the right to remove any user content that is inappropriate, misleading, offensive, or violates these Terms.
Third-Party Links
Our site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or business practices of those external sites. Any interaction with third-party websites is at your own discretion.
Modifications & Interruptions
We may change or update any part of the Services at any time without notice. While we strive to maintain uptime, we are not liable for any interruptions in service or resulting inconvenience or loss.
Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. Please refer to our Privacy Policy to understand how your personal information is collected, used, and protected.
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Legal Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut. In the event of any dispute, you agree to attempt informal resolution first. If necessary, disputes will be handled by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), in Connecticut. You waive your right to a jury trial or class action suit.
Disclaimers
Our Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties or guarantees regarding accuracy, availability, or content. You use the site and Services at your own risk.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nutmeg Table Company is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages related to your use of our site or products. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the product in question.
