From a Garage to a Workshop in Connecticut
Nutmeg Table Company began in Steve’s garage. He’d always enjoyed working with wood, but what pushed him to start building furniture was seeing how poorly made and overpriced most retail options were. Flimsy, mass-produced pieces using particle board, engineered wood, and still expensive.
So he started building something better. Solid wood. No shortcuts. Built to be used, not replaced.
What began as a few carts and tables for friends and family quickly grew into something more: a workshop, a small team, and a company committed to craftsmanship that holds up over time. We still build every piece right here in Connecticut—from the first cut of lumber to the final coat of finish. No overseas parts. No outsourcing. Just real materials and hands-on care.
Our Craft
We believe furniture should last longer than us. That’s why every Nutmeg piece is handcrafted in our Connecticut workshop from solid American hardwoods. Built to order. Tailored to your space.
From shop drawings to finish samples, we take a collaborative approach to make sure what we build feels just right. Our team is intentionally small, and our process is fully in-house. Every piece passes through our hands, start to finish—because that’s the only way to ensure the quality we believe in. Nothing leaves our shop until we know it’s ready to be lived with for decades.
Who We Build For
We build for people who care about quality—homeowners, designers, and builders alike. Whether the project is big or small, we approach it the same way: with respect for the materials, pride in the craft, and a belief that furniture should bring people together.
Delivery, Near and Far
We offer white glove delivery throughout New England and the NYC metro area, with freight shipping available nationwide.
Looking Ahead
We’re proud of how far we’ve come from a one-person garage shop—and excited for what’s ahead. Nutmeg Table Company will always stay true to its roots: building with care, honesty, and real craftsmanship. Furniture meant to gather around—and to be passed down.
