WALT Butcher Block Island

$2,695.00$4,850.00

Crafted from premium oiled walnut, our custom WALT butcher block kitchen island features a 2.5-inch thick end-grain butcher block top, designed just for you.

End-grain butcher blocks are favored by professional chefs for their self-healing properties, which resist deep cuts while keeping knives sharper for longer. This visually striking surface allows for direct food preparation with confidence. To protect the wood, we apply our in-house blend of beeswax and food-safe mineral oil, and we include a container of this blend for easy maintenance.

The island includes a spacious drawer with a front pull and matching side pulls for added functionality. The hardware shown in the photos is no longer available; we now use Top Knobs ‘Cumberland’ pulls by default, though you’re welcome to select alternative hardware to suit your style.

The solid walnut shelves are finished with a natural hardening oil, preserving the wood’s beauty while adding durability. More than just a stunning centerpiece, the WALT butcher block island is a hardworking addition to any kitchen. Custom sizes are available to fit your space perfectly.

What wood options are available for your butcher block tops?

We offer two wood choices: sugar maple and walnut. Sugar maple is our standard option, valued for its durability, resistance to scratches, and low-maintenance care. Walnut provides the same functionality with a warm, rich brown color and natural antimicrobial properties. If you’re interested in walnut, please contact us for pricing, as it’s offered at a different rate.

Can I choose the grain style of the butcher block?

Yes! We offer both edge grain and end grain options. Edge grain has a sleek, uniform look, while end grain features a distinctive checkered pattern. Both styles are gentle on knives and help minimize visible wear. If you’d like to explore either option further, feel free to reach out.

Please reach out with any questions before purchasing—we’re happy to provide more details about the delivery process!

Clients in most of New England and the NY Metro area will receive white glove delivery.

For clients outside our white glove delivery region, items are typically delivered by appointment in one of two ways:

  1. Shipper-Assisted Delivery: In most cases, your item will be carefully wrapped and delivered without the need for a pallet, eliminating pallet waste. The shipper will assist in bringing the item into your home, but additional help may be required depending on the size and weight of the item.
  2. Freight Pallet Delivery: When shipper-assisted delivery is not available, your item will be flat-packed on a freight pallet and delivered to your curbside or driveway. You will need help to unpack the pallet and move the product into your home, as freight drivers cannot assist with unpacking or placement.

Each piece is made to order in our Connecticut workshop. Measurements are approximate, and slight variations may occur, reflecting the unique nature of handcrafted furniture. Natural wood expands and contracts with the seasons. Due to the handcrafted process, butcher block thickness may vary by approximately ±¹⁄₁₆ inch from sanding and finishing.
